I picked up this book a couple of years ago and just recently finished reading it. I have enjoyed many of the other books by Bill Bryson and this one did not disappoint.
It concerns itself with the events that occurred over the summer of 1927 in a month by month format although the author does digress a little to provide some background and epilogue that covers what eventually happens to the main characters he covers in the book.
The better known individuals covered in the book are Babe Ruth, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Warren G. Harding and Al Capone. Some of the lesser known are Ruth Synder and Alvin “Shipwreck” Kelly.
I strongly recommend this book for anyone who has an interest in reading an well written, entertaining snippet of our country’s history.
